Fernando has more than 18 years of experience in the field of architecture, both in Iceland and abroad. In 2003, following his graduation from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in his native Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Fernando moved to Iceland to join PK arkitektar.

After collaborating with PK arkitektar for over nine years, he worked in London at David Chipperfield Architects on projects in the UK, Europe and in the US, including a Technology Quarter in Segovia, Spain and the Menil Collection in Houston, US. 

Two years later, his work took him back to Brazil, where he collaborated with the renowned Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld on large-scale projects in Brazil and Europe, such as La Petite Afrique, a high-end building in Monte Carlo, Monaco. 

In 2013, Fernando returned to Iceland to join PK arkitektar but this time as a partner, forming PKdM arkitektar. During his time as partner he worked on several large scale projects in Reykjavík such as the Höfðatorg complex downtown Reykjavík, Hafnartorg by the Reykjavík harbour and the Alvotech/Alvogen production facilities close to the University of Iceland. 

In 2020 Fernando founded UNDRA with Hans Tryggvason and Gísli Jónsson.

 

 

Hans H. Tryggvason

Hans has extensive experience in the design and management of diverse selection of projects of high complexity in the field of architecture, urban design and planning.

Hans has been a leading architect and project manager for numerous architectural and urban design projects at ARKÍS and PK /PKdM, two of the leading architectural offices in Iceland.

He also worked for the Planning department at the city of Reykjavík where he, among other started and managed the project “Torg í Biðstöðu” an awarded and one of the most innovated urban development project, commissioned by the city of Reykjavík.

In 2020 Hans founded UNDRA with Fernando de Mendonça and Gísli Jónsson.

 

 
 

Gísli Jónsson

Structural engineer / Project Manager and Consultant

Gísli is a wildly knowledgeable engineer and manager with over 30 years of experience in the fields of engineering, project planning and management.

After finishing his education in Iceland and Canada, he went on to work on a string of projects in Stuttgart and Berlin, Germany with the firm IFB Dr. Braschel GmbH as Structural Engineer and Project Manager from 1992 - 1998. Notable projects include the DIFA Victoria Areal, the Haus der Bundespressekonferenz  and the Treptowers including the Molecule Man (sculpture by Jonathan Borofsky), all in Berlin, as well as other projects in Germany such as the Design Center in Sindelfingen, a Mercedes-Benz design think tank and the Goethe Galeria Jena, shopping center and hotel.

Back in Iceland, he became the head of the Structural department and planning at VSO Consulting from 1998 - 2003, then he became Design and Marketing Manager at Eykt for Höfðatorg from 2005 - 2009, one of Reykjavík’s largest building construction to date. The project included PK arkitektar (later PKdM) as architects, which led him to join their office years later as General Manager from 2014 - 2019.

In 2020 Gísli founded UNDRA with Fernando de Mendonça and Hans Tryggvason.
